The execution of workover, completion, and matrix acidizing operations on 22 wells at Platforms A and C of South Pars Phase 14 began in spring 2025, with the primary objective of maintaining and increasing the gas production capacity of South Pars Gas field, relying on domestic capabilities and highly experienced specialists.

The execution of workover, completion, and matrix acidizing operations on 22 wells at Platforms A and C of South Pars Phase 14 began in spring 2025, with the primary objective of maintaining and increasing the gas production capacity of South Pars Gas field, relying on domestic capabilities and highly experienced specialists.

This major project has been planned over a two-year period and is divided into two main sections: acidizing operations on 11 wells, and the complete process of workover, completion, and acidizing on another 11 wells.

According to the latest field reports, eight wells have so far undergone workover operations, of which six wells have successfully completed the workover, perforation, and acidizing processes. These operations have resulted in a twofold increase in the production capacity of Platform C, reaching approximately 570 million cubic feet per day. It is noteworthy that this production level is more than 50 percent higher than the initial forecasts and project targets.

Based on expert assessments, upon full completion of the project, the gas production capacity of Platforms A and C of South Pars Phase 14 is expected to reach the maximum possible level of approximately one billion cubic feet per day. This will play a vital and decisive role in ensuring the country’s stable gas supply, particularly during the cold seasons and periods of peak residential consumption.

Ultimately, the successful execution of this project, relying entirely on domestic engineering and operational capabilities, represents a tangible realization of the country’s policies toward a resilient economy and self-sufficiency in the energy industry. It also demonstrates that Iranian private-sector companies have the capability to carry out some of the largest and most complex specialized oil and gas operations in offshore fields.
